Sage Tutoring Makes Teaching Personal
One of the things I love most about representing Summit County real estate is that I get to discover so many wonderful local businesses. They truly make this area come alive. I also think they present yet another reason to enjoy living here.
This month I want to tell you about Sage Tutoring, LLC, which is owned and operated by Carla Cammarata.
She moved to Summit County in 2008 with a passion for education. At the time, she wanted to be a full-time tutor. But she didn’t feel she was reaching enough students in that role.
So in 2009, she started her home-tutoring business in Summit County. Carla felt this was the perfect area to situate her company and give students a deeper understanding of various subjects.
“It just seemed like a really great community where people are looking for extra challenges for their kids,” Carla said. “I got the impression that Summit County is a place with very active parents and I loved how close-knit everybody was.”
Carla shows her commitment to this community by being fully dedicated to our education system.
She’s on the Executive Board of Directors for the Summit Education Foundation. Plus, Carla works with small organizations who refer need-based students to her. Now that’s pretty impressive!
When I asked Carla what makes Sage Tutoring different from other similar businesses, she gave me an answer that may be of interest to many Summit County parents.
“We really pride ourselves on building personal connections with our students and their families,” Carla told me. “We provide mentors and the work we do with students goes beyond the subject.”
In fact, she hopes to open a science and technology center this fall that focuses entirely on these essential subjects. Nothing’s definite, but Carla’s working hard to make this dream a reality. Her vision is to have a place where motivated kids can gain important skills for their future studies.
Although Carla’s company focuses heavily on teaching the sciences, Sage Tutoring offers many other kinds of services as well. She trains students on how to take the ACT and SAT exams, too.
Furthermore, Carla is developing some workshops over the summer, which will involve professionals from a variety of different disciplines. Subjects such as English, foreign languages and the arts will be explored in her program.
Just through one conversation with Carla, I could tell she cares deeply about teaching. And she’ll go out of her way to make time for every student who needs her help.
“One of the things that sets us apart is that we offer flexible scheduling,” Carla explained. “We try our hardest to give people the time slot they’re looking for. If that means we have to reschedule something the next week, we will. We’re just really flexible.”
Quite frankly, Carla’s devotion is hard to beat.
