Fall Activities in Summit County
Everyone hears about Summit County in the winter and summer, but it’s not as common to hear people talk about the fall. Autumn is a great time to enjoy recreational activities in the high country, and if you own property here it’s a perfect time to participate in all of the available activities without the winter or summertime crowds. We’ve got bright blue skies, a perfect medium temperature, beautiful scenery, and plenty of activities to keep you busy.
So what exactly is there to do in Summit County in the fall? Probably the most obvious activity is hiking or walking. We have everything from an easy stroll down Main Street to climbing a 14er with gear. When the aspens start turning color in the fall, hiking gives you access to beautiful scenery that can’t be seen any other way. A great resource for hiking trails, including information on individual trails, maps, and the level of difficulty for each trail, can be found at http://www.summitcountyexplorer.com/summithikingtrails.htm
Biking is also extremely popular here, including road biking, mountain biking, and cruising on the bike path for fun. Our bike path includes 55 miles of paved and maintained trail, which is clearly mapped out at http://www.co.summit.co.us/DocumentView.aspx?DID=910.
There are also countless miles of varied level mountain bike trails, and a very detailed trail map can be found at the Town of Breckenridge website.

With beautiful Lake Dillon, there are plenty of water activities available as well. Being out on the water is beautiful, peaceful, and it gives you a chance to see our gorgeous mountain ranges from an entirely different perspective! Visit the Frisco Marina website for details.
