Breckenridge in Top 10 among Skiers and Boarders
Those of us who live here have always known it—now the world knows it as well—
Breckenridge, Colorado is one of the best places in North America to hit the slopes.
Ski magazine’s Fall 2011 resort issue puts Breck at number 9, just behind Steamboat and just above Telluride. Pretty great company to be in, right?
Ski highlights Breck’s Lake Chutes, The Burn and Mustang runs as well as our charming, mining-town atmosphere and fantastic après-ski hangouts. They also noted Relish restaurant and Ullr Fest as “must-dos.” The article states that Breckenridge is “a great town and a big mountain where all types of skiers can find somewhere to play.”
Copper came in for some good press as well for its “excellent trail layout” and “free snowcat in the bowls,” although the mountain did not break into the overall top 10.
Shredders can also celebrate Breckenridge’s number 6 overall rating from Transworld Snowboarding magazine. Snowmass took the number one slot, but the magazine praises Breck’s terrain offerings, taking into account bowls, glade freeriding, park and pipe, and après parties.
So, grab your skis and/or your board because opening day is this Friday, November 4. And with our two recent storms dumping all this snow, conditions should be terrific!
If you’d like to spend more time skiing and boarding in Breck (and cut down on the I-70 drive), consider purchasing a vacation home in Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne or Keystone. There are many great properties on the market right now, ranging from maintenance-free condos to rustic, freestanding homes on sizable pieces of land. And, with mortgage rates still hovering at low levels, this is the perfect time to buy. You could be celebrating the holidays in your new Summit County home!
